OverDrive Help
The OverDrive Help site contains a wealth of information to help guide you through the process of downloading an ebook or audiobook. Once in the site, check out the Get Started With section for assistance with your eReader and finding the file format that is right for you. You can also go to the Device Resource Center for a list of compatible devices and the file formats that work with each. There is even a Help Videos section where you can watch a series of step-by-step device-specific video guides that will to help walk you through the process.
Other places to find eBooks
Through SELCO, our regional library system, Van Horn Public Library offers OverDrive service providing current, popular eBooks that you can borrow with your library card just as you do other materials.
Some eBooks are also available through our statewide subscription to NetLibrary. These are mostly academic titles, and the subscription does not include the ability to download to a portable device.
If you download a free reader (such as Blio) you can find free eBooks through those apps. You will not find current bestsellers available for free this way; most of what you will find are items in the public domain (i.e., older items no longer covered by copyright). Some sites only make titles available to read via your browser, while other sites offer downloads.
