EMMA ANN OBERG WINS SELCO REGION BLUE RIBBON FOR SUMMER READING
The Minnesota Summer Reading Program and Youth Services Committee has recognized a Blue Ribbon Reader from each region to celebrate Summer Reading. Each public library in the SELCO region was asked to submit the name of one child (k-12 age) who showed great enthusiasm in the summer reading program and who deserves to be recognized for summer reading achievements. Emma Ann Oberg of Pine Island was drawn from the nominations submitted from the public libraries and named the SELCO Blue Ribbon Reader. She will receive a four-pack of Minnesota State Fair tickets and a Star Reading Blue Ribbon plus a small gift pack.
Emma Ann (age 11) is the daughter of Nels and Ann Oberg and the sister of Sven ( 6) and Sorren (3) Oberg. Youth Librarian Joan Sand notes “The nomination process was difficult because we have so many great readers here in the Pine Island area, but Emma Ann is one of those quiet, voracious readers that you cannot help but notice. However, the quality that made her stand out to us is that she also supports and encourages her two younger brothers in their reading. In fact, her father often comes into the library with a long list of books to borrow for the kids that has been put together by Emma. They are a great family and it is delightful to be able reward them for their love of reading.”
