Our Youth Library is offering all the makings for kids of all ages to come and make Holiday Cards for Veterans this December. This program was so popular last year, we just had to bring it back again for 2018!
Stop in & make a card or 2! For every 5 cards you make, your name will be put in a drawing for a fun Christmas prize pack.
We are looking forward to our Summer Reading Program’s official kickoff tomorrow, June 26, from 1-3PM here at the library. The Goodhue County Historical Society is bringing their fantastic trunk of games-throughout-the-ages for kids and parents alike to try their hand at. We will have a variety of more modern games and activities available as well.
The plan is to have the event take place on the library’s lawn, but in case of rain we will move inside to the 2nd Floor of City Hall.
We hope you can join us at this and our other Summer Reading programs!
Summer Reading has just started, but we’re already going all out! We’ve already have nearly 250 kids of all ages sign up to participate in our reading challenge. We are still accepting registrants for it, so please come in if you haven’t already!
What else are we doing for Summer Reading? We have story time every Wednesday at 10am through August 15. (No story time on July 4th!) Weather permitting it will be outside with fun and somewhat messy crafts so dress in washable clothes! Here are a few pictures from today’s story time where Heidi read books about construction and kids got to paint with sidewalk chalk paint and small cars/trucks.
We also have other programs and they start next Tuesday with our Kickoff Celebration from 1-3pm. We plan to be outside on the library’s lawn, but if the weather prevents it, we’ll be upstairs at City Hall.
There is a lot more information on the Summer Reading page of our website, so check it out!
School’s out. It’s hot and humid outside. That means it’s summer and time for our Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme is “Build a Better World” and you can see our schedule of events here. Come in this week to signup, then get reading!
The barn tour was cancelled due to weather on February 25, and we are sorry to say that we are unable to reschedule it this spring. Thank you all for your interest and we look forward to seeing you at the library soon!
Have you read The Barn by Avi as part of One Town One Title? Do you want to talk to others in Pine Island about it?
Our library’s book club is meeting on Wednesday, February 8 at 6pm at Better Brew Coffeehouse to enjoy a cuppa and also talk about The Barn. All are welcome to join us in this informal discussion!
Haven’t had the chance to read this book yet? We still have a few free copies here at the Library, Pine Island Bank & Better Brew. This is a quick read so there is still plenty of time for you to enjoy this slim novel!
On Wednesday, September 23rd former Zumbrota Public Library Children’s Librarian Flora Burfeind will visit Van Horn Public Library for another “Special Guest” Story Time. As she has done in the past, she will draw from her many years of hosting story hours at Zumbrota to enlighten and entertain her listeners. Flora will also follow up with a fun craft to take home!
Our Fall Story Time schedule will run each Wednesday at 10am until November 18th (no Story Time on November 11th, Veteran’s Day). Children age 2 and up are welcome (with appropriate adult supervision). No sign up is necessary.
For further information contact us at 507-356-8558 or firstname.lastname@example.org or “like” VHPL on Facebook.
(If you haven’t already, stop by the library to pick your prize!)
