Teen Library Team

NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday, March 31st, 7pm @ the library
Van Horn Library is looking for teens aged 13-18 to help promote the library’s mission and guide library programming and outreach. Read on to learn more!
Goals:
- Partner with youth to advance library and youth community goals
- Provide leadership and volunteer opportunities for youth participants
- Connect youth to the community for input on teen materials and programming
Ok……but what does that ACTUALLY mean??
Basically, the library is looking to partner with interested teens in the Pine Island area to gain input on library programs and buying library materials. Teens involved in the program will be able to use library supplies and other resources to plan and implement the programs that THEY want to see happening at the library.
This is a teen-led group, with library staff on hand for guidance and input. Creativity and big ideas are encouraged – you never know what’s possible until you ask!
Teens that choose to participate will be asked to do some volunteer work at the library either with the group or on their own time. These volunteer hours can be counted to fill national honors society or other volunteer requirements.
What’s the time commitment?
Currently, the TLT is meeting monthly during the school year. Members will be asked to make at least 2 meetings per semester.
Additional time commitments may include: prep sessions for planned events, attending/running planned events, individual or group volunteer hours.
What is in the works right now?
Currently, our teens are planning an Earth Day craft and hangout event for April.
Looking forward to summer, we’re also working on teen art nights and a garden tea party!
How do I join?
Let Heidi at the library know you’re interested, or simply show up to our next planned meeting! See above for next meeting date.
Anyone age 13 through high school who is interested is invited to come and check us out.
Questions?
If you have more questions or want to chat about our new teen group, contact Heidi at hbreid@selco.info or call the library at 356-8558 and ask for Heidi!
